What to Expect

At Cape Coral First we are a group of people with varied life experiences that come together to be in relationship with God and one another. We worship God together, learn and grow together, and then show others God’s love in real and tangible ways in hopes of helping them to connect with God, too. We’re not perfect by any means, but we try to encourage one another and help each other find our way on the journey of becoming more like the people God has called us to be. In the midst of all that, we hope to transform the community around us for God by being in ministry and service to the people around us.

We strive to make our faith in Jesus central to everything we do, and we want to share the life-changing power of God's truth with you and your family. The Bible isn't just a book we talk about on Sundays-- it guides our daily lives and is where we find God's purpose for our lives.

We hope you'll join us as we journey and do life together. A great place to start is by attending one of our worship services. If you have any questions or if we can serve you in some way, don't hesitate to contact one of our pastors.

What are the services like?
On Sunday mornings we offer two different services with the same message but delivered in different styles. Formal or casual, traditional or contemporary, reflective or dynamic... chances are we have a worship service that will fit your lifestyle and personality.
  • Traditional Service (Sunday at 8:45am) in the sanctuary. This service, while traditional, is lively and dynamic. Our excellent chancel choir helps lead the music, and we sing many of the great hymns of the Church. We typically affirm our faith using one of the historic creeds of the Church and pray The Lord’s Prayer together. It’s not uncommon to have special music highlighting our excellent instrumentalists or soloists. The pastors wear traditional robes, but it is also not unusual to have drama and special video clips. The song lyrics are projected on a large screen so everyone can participate. There is a great children’s message after which, pre-schoolers through third grade go to Children’s Worship. Holy Communion is typically celebrated on the first Sunday of each month.

  • Casual Service (Sunday at 11:00am) in the sanctuary. Our casual service is definitely one where you can come as you are. The pastors wear more casual attire, and you are encouraged to do so, too. Music is led by a band with electric and bass guitars. The song lyrics are projected on a large screen so everyone can participate. This service regularly uses drama, PowerPoint, and other multi-media. A great children’s message is offered each week after which pre-schoolers through third graders go to Children’s Worship. Holy Communion is typically celebrated on the first Sunday of each month.

What is the vision of Cape Coral First?
We believe that Cape Coral First exists to make disciples of Jesus for the transformation of the Cape Coral community and the world beyond. We believe that is lived out best by attending worship every week, participating in a small group, Bible study, or Sunday school class to grow in relationship with God, and to be in service to help show God’s love to others in real and tangible ways.

Will I be singled out as a guest?
We hope that you find us to be a friendly congregation. You are our guest and we want you to feel as comfortable as possible when you visit our services. While we would love a chance to meet you, you don’t have to identify yourself as a guest. We are a big enough church for you to slip into a worship service and check us out without identifying yourself to anyone, if that is what you choose.

You’ll have the opportunity during the services to fill out a registration pad, where you can give as little or as much information about yourself as you wish. There are also cards through which you can let us know of any prayer requests that you have.

What should I wear to the worship services?
Our traditional service tends to be more formal, and the casual service…well…more casual. (But remember, this is Florida, where 'formal' is still fairly casual and comfortable.) Children generally wear comfortable clothing. But the general rule is: Come as you are! We want to meet your real life needs, and aren’t so worried about what you wear.

Are there ministries for my children?
Yes! We have a dynamic and growing children's ministry! Sunday School for pre-schoolers through elementary aged kids starts at 10am in various rooms. There are children’s messages during both services with children’s worship afterwards (except on the first Sunday of the month so kids can take communion). We offer special ministries to our kids, weekly, monthly, and seasonally. Be sure to see our children’s ministry link under the ministries icon. Our nursery is staffed with trained and background checked attendants.

Are there ministries for my teenagers?
Yes! Youth are a vital part of our church community! Each Sunday evening our youth participate in The Intersection, where students meet life. A weekly lesson, a chance to talk and exchange ideas and time to relax and have fun as well, all happen at Ihe Intersection. All of our youth leaders are trained and background checked.
